Marpa was a Tibetan who risked his life three times to go to India and receive  the profound Buddhist teachings and practices from the great yogi Naropa. This book tells this story of how he went and received these teachings and brought them back to Tibet and how he achieved enlightenment. Soon afterwards the Moslem invasion of India began and many of these teachings were destroyed and lost in India.

This is a Spiritual biography in Tibetan, means "complete liberation" because they show how lamas were able to achieve enlightenment. They encourage us by showing the conditions which they began with, how they were able to practice and accomplish liberation.

During Marpa's training he transformed his defects, such as his short temper and arrogance into good qualities such as courage and compassion that could benefit others. By this process, the qualities expanded so that by the end they actually became his experience and realization of completeness; he become a siddha (an enlightened being).

Marpa was a businessman with a family of nine children. His example and teachings remain alive today in the unbroken lineage of the Kagyu lineage, of which Thrangu Rinpoche is a recognized master. He has realized these teachings directly so that when he teaches about Marpa he conveys not only the words but also their meaning.
