The Chod practice is a special practice for reducing one's attachment to the self which is important in becoming a compassionate person. This practice developed by a highly realized Tibetan woman (Machig Labdrön) involves a liturgy in which we, to greatly simplify, visualize ourself and then visualize ourselves cutting up our body and self into pieces.
Bokar Rinpoche in this 142 page book explains the reasoning behind this practice which was developed by the 14th Karmapa and then presents in great detail (including dozens of diagrams) how to perform this practice in English. It also has an appendix which has the Tibetan text in pecha form.
Obviously, to do the practice properly and get the most benefit from it, we should find a teacher who has done the practice and is qualified to give the empowerment for this practice.
