The Buddha taught three turnings of the wheel of Dharma--the Foundation vehicle, the Mahayana vehicle, and the Vajrayana vehicle. The second turning founded by Nagarjuna based a great deal of their additions and expositions on the concept of emptiness. If a practitioner does not understand the empty and illusory manner of daily phenomena, they will have a great deal of trouble in their meditation and being on the path to enlightenment.
So the concept of emptiness is important to understand and as a result Tibetan monastic college (shedras) devote up to almost a year study emptiness as explained by Chandrakirti's Entrance to the middle Way.
Khenpo Tsultrim Rinpoche besides being an outstanding teacher spent many years of his life as a yogi practicing. As a result when Khenpo Tsultrim explains Chandrakirti, he does so from the viewpoint of a practitioner and used relatively little technical language. As a result this teaching is well suited for the Western practitioner who wants to understand this important teaching.
